Quan K. Nguyen
MD, MPH

I am an infectious-disease epidemiologist in Hanoi, Vietnam, trained as a physician. I build reproducible R analyses that turn Vietnam’s national surveillance data into policy. I also collaborate with the Global Burden of Disease study and led the translation of the official Vietnamese edition of R for Data Science.
I studied medicine at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy (MD, 2021) and epidemiological and biostatistical methods at Johns Hopkins University (MPH, 2025). My interests are antimicrobial resistance, tuberculosis, cost-effectiveness modeling, R programming, and building capacity for health technology assessment in low- and middle-income countries.
I have been fortunate to learn from and work with Prof. David Dowdy at Johns Hopkins University (on the Kharituwe randomized controlled trial), Prof. Andrew Taylor-Robinson at VinUniversity (I was his teaching assistant), and Prof. Linh C. Le on the VINCohort study, where I was the research coordinator and supported data analysis and paper writing.
Current role
Research Fellow at the College of Health Sciences, VinUniversity (since 2025), and International Scholar at the Center for Global Health, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. I am also an analyst and co-investigator in Vietnam’s national AMR data-to-policy program with the Ministry of Health, VinUniversity and US CDC (since 2026).
